Dr. Sommer, DDS
Dr. Sommer grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He enjoys a quieter life with his wife Julia. Dr. Sommer graduated from Creighton University with a degree in Chemistry in 2005. He went on to get his MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2007 and DDS from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2011.
He has been on two dental service trips to the Dominican Republic and Malawi where he especially focused on helping dental students and local dentists improve their oral surgery skills to better serve their communities. Oral surgery and endodontics are two areas that Dr. Sommer especially is drawn to because of how they give patients relief from pain. He hopes that his expertise in these areas will be beneficial to the patients of Harlan Dental and reduce the need to seek care outside of the area.
Some fun facts about Dr. Sommer…. he met his wife on a double blind date, where they were not each other’s dates, and has been happily married since 2015. He wrote his first book, “Why God Why?” in between patients his first year practicing dentistry. His wife Julia is working on her PhD in Bioinformatics at UNMC. Her research helps a wide variety of people (and even animals!). Some of her work has been for WWII veterans, Lymphoma, Crohn’s disease, and endangered species at the Omaha Zoo.
