Shields DDS

DR. ALISON SHIELDS, DDS

Dr. Shields grew up in Milford, NE. She earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and received her DDS degree in 2009.

Dr. Shields and her husband Brett moved to Harlan in June 2009 and have been enjoying small town life with their 5 children. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and kids activities. Her husband Brett Shields is employed by the Harlan Community School District working in Information Technology.

Dr. Shields is committed to providing the best patient care possible. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and wants to help people reach their best health.

Hoch DDS

DR. MARY HOCH, DDS

Dr. Hoch, a Harlan native and daughter of Lee and Julie Kaufmann, graduated valedictorian from HCHS in 2010. She completed her undergraduate degree in three years at The University of Missouri where she graduated summa cum laude before attending the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

The Iowa Dental Association awarded her with one of just two merit-based scholarships based on her academic achievements, volunteerism, and commitment to the state of Iowa. While in dental school, she started her own business as a wedding and event videographer. She graduated in the top of her class in 2017.

She is married to Matt Hoch, a former HCHS athletic standout who played football at the University of Missouri. Matt is currently teaching science and coaching football and wrestling at HCHS.
